Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q. What does my player need to wear to play soccer for NKSC?

A. Each player must wear shin guards with soccer socks over them and soccer cleats. Cleats with a toe-pick (baseball) are not allowed. Our club colors are yellow and royal blue. A jersey and shorts are provided with Rec registration, but players are responsible for providing their own cleats, shin guards and royal blue soccer socks. Select players must purchase uniform kit (jerseys, shorts and socks) separately from registration fees. Select players are responsible for providing their own cleats and shin guards.

A. No, the rules state that players cannot play with any jewelry and taping over a piercing is not acceptable. This rule applies to all practices and games.

A. Some consideration is made to assign players with other players from their school. Requests can be made to Registrar, but are dependent on team formations and player pools.

Q. I want my child to play-up an age group, but the system won’t let me. Should I just change their birthdate to make the system work?

A. Absolutely not. We allow players to play out of their natural age group for various reasons. For example, some players with August birthdays like to play with other kids in their same school grade. However, falsifying information on the registration form is fraud, and if discovered, may cause forfeiture of games. If you wish to register outside of your age group, please contact the Registrar at registrar@northkitsapsoccer.org.

Q. Can I get a refund for my child if he decides that he doesn’t want to play?

A. NKSC begins to incur costs as soon as a player registers to play so the club has adopted the following refund schedule:

  • For Comp Annual Season: Refunds are only granted for special circumstances. Please email Comp Director to place a request.
  • For Fall Rec Season: If your request is received before teams are formed in mid-July, a full refund LESS a $10 service fee will be given. If your request is received after team formation and before teams practices begin in mid-August, a 50% refund will be given. If your request is after practices begin, there will be no refund.
  • For Spring Rec Season: If your request is received before registration closes, a full refund LESS a $10 service fee will be given. If your request is after practices begin, there will be no refund.

All requests must be in writing via email or regular mail and should be sent to the coordinator of the program, the registrar and the treasurer. All refunds will be in the form of a check. For the complete policy document, please email the program coordinator.

Q. Our schedule is busy and we can only practice certain days. Can’t you assign me to a team which practices only on certain days? When will practices be held?

A. During registration we do not know which days & times coaches will choose for their practices. Coaches will sign up for practice times at the coaches meeting held in early August.

Q. Are there games on Sundays?

A. Sometimes. It depends on the number of teams in the age group. If there are an odd number of teams, you will end up with a few Sunday games.

Q. Registration is so expensive! How are the registration fees spent?

A. We make every attempt to keep registration costs affordable. We can provide a Per Player Cost Allocation if requested. Please contact the appropriate Program Coordinator via email to make this request.

Q. How many times will I have to register my children?

A. With the registration system you will need to add your information just once. After you add it, then you will only need to access the database system and register your child or children using a simple process.

Q. Can others see my information?

A. No, others cannot see your information. However once the state is ready to use this same system the player information will be uploaded to them just as it is each season. The steps taken to get this information to the state will now be more streamlined but the same information is sent as in the past through our club’s association and district.
