Parent Information Guide:

North Kitsap Soccer Club’s competitive (Select) programs are designed to provide an exciting and challenging experience for young soccer players. These programs include players that are new to select programming and want to try out a more competitive option, as well as players who have played select before and are continuing their development. The select program builds on players’ love of the game by adding more advanced skill development and competition. 

Tryouts are free and take place in late April or early May. Teams will have Open Practices for registered players. Open Practices are a great way to come out and meet the team and coaches, and to prepare for tryouts. The Open Practice and Tryout schedule is coming soon! We encourage all interested players to register and be a part of this exciting program!

Register for Tryouts

The Select program starts in late May or early June and runs through the fall. After a short holiday break, it resumes in January and finishes in April. The program includes practice two to three times a week, three summer tournaments, and fall and spring competitive league games, where players showcase their talent and compete with other teams.

The schedule is different for high school teams:

  • Girls’ high school soccer teams participate in a summer season that runs from June until early August, and a winter season that runs from December until April. The break from August to December allows players to focus on their local high school teams.
  • Boys’ high school soccer teams play in the summer, fall, and winter leagues, and finish by mid-February. Tryouts for the following season are in mid-late February so that players can focus on their local high school teams from March to May.

There is a payment plan option during registration, if needed. There are also Financial Assistance options.

Uniform

This season is the first year for our competitive uniform cycle (the cycle is two years). All players are required to purchase a new uniform kit. The cost of the kit is approximately $125. Soccer.com is our supplier. Each parent will order directly for their player after teams form.

Required Uniform Kit includes:

  • 2 jerseys
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • 2 pairs of socks

Optional:

  • Warm-up jacket and pants
  • Backpack

Why Play for NKSC?

Our experienced, skilled, and licensed staff of volunteer coaches provide outstanding training that maximize each player’s potential. Coaches are screened to ensure their coaching philosophy is aligned with NKSC’s Style of Play.

Additionally, we augment our coaching staff with professional and volunteer trainers to teach special topics and techniques. 

Our Select players CAN play other sports – The misconception is that once a player starts down the “Select” road everything else stops.  That is not the case at NKSC. Many of our players also play Middle and High School Sports, and participate in other leagues outside of soccer. Granted soccer may conflict with some activities at times but with good communication and some scheduling changes these conflicts can be normally worked out. Please talk with your coach about their philosophy of playing concurrent sports.
